BLACK LIPS BBQ TORONTO (w/DEERHUNTER).

Last Sunday in Toronto, The Black Lips completely DESTROYED
The Legendary Horseshoe Tavern...
I was a little late arriving, but also managed to catch the way cool
DEMON'S CLAWS (Hell Shovel?), who make records for a neat label called Telephone Explosion. Anyhoo, after The Black Lips DESTROYED
The Legendary Horseshoe Tavern, they were kind enough to welcome
In The Red recording artist BBQ, as well as the equally legendary
Bradford Cox (of Deerhunter & Atlas Sound fame)...

The fellas ended up covering 'RUN RUN RUN', by
The Velvet Underground and suffice to say, it went quite well...::

NUSHI: [COCO] ARCHIE BRONSON

The Archie Bronson Outfit are AWESOME. I first heard their 'tunes on a CMJ Music Marathon CD sampler in '06 and I've been waiting for the NUSHI from these dudes ever since... Fast (slow) forward to 2K10 & the UK trio finally have a new baby 'Coconuts', ready to pop out March 1st, via Domino Records. Let's be honest; you really need to study...

Go to iTunes, (now) and download 'Dart for My Sweetheart', 'Jab Jab', 'Cherry Lips' 'Butterflies' & 'The Wheel Rolls On'.

Oh, and watch these:

NUSHI: WU vs BEATLES

It's been tough to be fresh while sampling The Beatles since DangerMouse released the epic Grey Album in 2004... Here's a surprisingly effective combination of Wu-Tang acapellas & sampled source material initially authored by The Fab Four. UK Producer/Secondary School Music Teacher/Caregiver for adults with special needs' Tom Caruana, has avoided the obvious and delved into the deep waters of eclectic Beatles cover records and concocted some very nice beats here on this 27 (!) track LP. Of particular greatness is his work with Inspectah Deck on 'Forget Me Not', and Ghostface on Supreme Clientele's 'Mighty Healthy'. Tom's new verse = new beat on 'UZI (Pinky Ring)' is also very impressive. The entire album is available for download in many formats at bandcamp.com, so head here to give the album a listen and add it to your hard drive.
